Shushma Devi
Shushma Devi, the founder of SWABHIMAAN, started the organization to uplift women and marginalized communities in Dhanbad. Inspired by real-life struggles, she leads with compassion and action. Her vision drives the organization’s mission to ensure dignity, equality, and opportunity for all through grassroots empowerment and social awareness.
Bhuvneshwari Devi
Bhuvneshwari Devi is a dedicated social worker with Swabhimaan Sanstha. She empowers women and adolescent girls by raising awareness of domestic violence, leads community outreach under the Har Ghar Nal Yojana, and trains households in segregating dry and wet waste to improve local sanitation.
Laxmi Devi
Laxmi Devi manages her home and three children while actively overseeing the registers and transactions of 16 women’s self-help groups across Amtad and Pathargadiya. For the last five years, she’s been a dedicated member of Swabhimaan Sanstha, guiding women and adolescent girls by resolving issues directly or coordinating solutions with her team.
Ram Charan Mahto
Ram Charan Mahto teaches at the local village school and manages family farming. As an active member of Swabhimaan Sanstha, he supports men’s agricultural and institutional training—from coordinating sessions to ensuring programs run smoothly.
Mala Devi
Mala Devi, a mother of three from a humble family, balances household duties while completing her ANM training. As Treasurer of Swabhimaan Sanstha, she manages all bank-related work, convenes women’s group meetings, raises awareness on gender inequality, advocates for women’s and girls’ rights, and inspires them to fight for justice.
Juli Devi
Juli Devi, a devoted Swabhimaan Sanstha member, manages household duties alongside her husband and two children while ensuring successful program execution. She oversees office operations and actively supports adolescent girls’ meetings.
Laljan Khatoon
Laljan Khatoon, from a humble Muslim household living with her in-laws, husband, and three children, is an active Swabhimaan Sanstha member. She mobilizes Muslim women and adolescent girls for rights-based trainings, helping them articulate their issues and advocate for justice.
